God has meant for Good
Dear MBC Church Family,
“Open his eyes that he may see.” This was the prayer of the prophet Elisha asking God to reveal to his young, fearful servant the host of warrior angels in battle formation in their chariots of fire, surrounding the approaching Syrian forces ready to overpower them. Elisha was not concerned for his own safety because he knew that the heavenly host standing sentry was more powerful than any earthly army every assembled. The prophet, though, wanted his servant to see that the Syrians didn’t stand a chance. Similarly, we see another menacing confrontation threatening to occur in the streets of DC next week.
The president has called for his supporters to show up en masse to protest the outcome of the most recent election and to fight to overthrow the results. Some of them will attempt to smuggle weapons into the city with the intent of causing more mayhem than they did three weeks ago just before the Electoral College met to cast their deciding votes. The thousands of anticipated demonstrators will be supported by opportunistic congressmen, pardoned criminals, militia, white nationalists, and violent extremists who hope to force a transition to the second term of the current administration.
However, we can rest assured that the abiding Spirit of God is already at work and He will have His warrior angels surrounding the city and guarding the streets to restrain the enemy from accomplishing their goals. Instead, as we go through the coming week we can expect to witness God making His own presence known, giving us confidence that He will soon usher in an era of peace throughout the land. And we will be able to say that what the devil has meant for evil, God has meant for good (Genesis 50:20).
Let’s pray each day during the coming week for God’s will to be done and let’s continue to invite our family and friends to join us remotely for service by Skype: https://join.skype.com/P8TRBZjej8aU or by conference call: (339) 209-5068.
