In the Midst of the Raging Storm
Dear MBC Church Family,
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers her out of them all (Psalm 34:19). One of the most vivid images of God’s care for us was portrayed when Jesus, literally walking across the lake, approached the disciples who, in the midst of the raging storm, were struggling to survive. When they realized that the ghostly figure drawing closer was Jesus, Peter begged Jesus to let him step out of the boat and walk with Him. After he hesitantly walked on water, suddenly a wave came crashing down. Peter feared for his life and as he was sinking for what seemed like his last time, he reached up, and Jesus reached down, grabbing him and pulling him up into the safety of the boat.
During this pandemic, we may have gotten used to navigating through this storm, but once in a while, another violent storm may hit, sending wave after wave after wave crashing down on us. That’s when it may seem like we’re tied to an anchor and on our way under. However, as Jesus reached down to save Peter, our Savior is still faithful to deliver us from the weight of care that promises to overwhelm us. At that time it’s good to remember that God will never let you down; He’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; He’ll always be there to help you come through it (1 Corinthians 10:13). And also, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).
It’s good to know that God is standing guard around each one of us. Let’s continue to invite our family and friends to join us remotely for service by Skype: https://join.skype.com/P8TRBZjej8aU or by conference call: (339) 209-5068.
