God is Still Binding Us Together

Dear MBC Church Family,

On Sunday we celebrate our 44th church anniversary.  In looking back over the years, we can truly see the Spirit of God working through all of us.  Rev. Beamon Meadows, a long-time faithful supporter of the church, often remarked whenever he visited how amazed he was that we were able to do so much with so few members.  Over his many years of working with large churches, he rarely witnessed the same level of enthusiasm for ministry from all their members as what he saw displayed in our church.  But the answer is in what we’ve known all along, that the life of the church does not depend on us.  It depends on God.

At every crossroad that we’ve faced, we’ve turned to God and He’s opened doors and brought us through.   Whether we were meeting at Bowie Playhouse Theater, in the open air in a park or even in the woods, the Presence of God was always with us, making Himself known.  And whether we worshiped with Tree of Life or Good Shepherd, we still felt His Spirit ever present with us.  In fact, all the transitions that we’ve experienced served to bind us closer together.  And God is working the same way today.

In the midst of a historic pandemic, God is still binding us together as we stay connected to each other whether we join in live on Skype or on the conference call, or whether we watch the recorded services on YouTube.  And the blessing is that we’re staying connected every week with even more members and family and friends than ever before.  The fact that we’re still worshiping our Savior together is a testament to the Spirit of God still working through all of us.

Happy Anniversary!
