Joy Comes In The Morning

Dear MBC Church Family,

Anger, frustration, sadness. No one has ever seen anything like it before in professional sports.  The Milwaukee Bucks, playing the Orlando Magic in the first round of the NBA playoffs, were leading the series 3-1, thinking that they could close out the series on top in the next game.  However, 30 minutes before game time, the Milwaukee players were too distraught to play game 5 and decided not to go on court, protesting the senseless shooting of a black man by law enforcement in front of his children.  That decision to possibly forfeit the winning game was matched by other teams and other sports leagues as a show of solidarity in taking a stand against police brutality and racial injustice.

Sometimes we may feel as if everything is going right and we’re looking forward to another exciting day; and then all of a sudden, our world is turned upside down and everything is going wrong.  The Psalmist recounts a similar experience in his life when he felt as if he were on the mountaintop, safe and secure and unstoppable.  Then all of a sudden, his world turned upside down and shattered. But, he relied on God to pull him up out of what felt like to him a deep, dark pit.  He concludes his testimony, though, with these words that still reverberate today, “Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning” (Psalm 30:5).

With much hope, we believe that the forces that we’re seeing that’s causing so much social unrest are only temporary.  God will take these sacrifices that are sown today and cause a better society to take root tomorrow (John 12:24).  The joy of seeing the good things to come makes the present hardship much more bearable.

Let’s continue to invite our family and friends to join us remotely for service by Skype: https://join.skype.com/P8TRBZjej8aU or by conference call: (339) 209-5068.
