Standing in the Burning Fire
Dear MBC Church Family,
“The cavalry is on the way,” encouraging words from Dr. Fauci after a couple of drug companies announced their successful development of a coronavirus vaccine. But as he noted, it’s not here yet. Put another way, we prayed to God to heal our land from the virus, and thanks to the rapid pace of the vaccine development, we can now see how His healing will take place. But He hasn’t done it yet. And over the next couple of months with the virus spreading exponentially, we may feel like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, standing in the midst of a blazing fiery furnace with the virus burning all around us. But we can have this assurance that God is still right there standing in the burning fire with us, and He’s about to bring us out untouched.
More than likely, this Thanksgiving will be unlike any we’ve celebrated before. More people will give thanks alone or with fewer family and friends. But the Scripture says this about Jesus, “for the joy that was set before Him, [He] endured the cross” (Hebrews 12:2). Though next week’s get-togethers may be different, the joy that is set before us is the knowledge that our healing is on the way, not only a healing of the pandemic, but also a healing of many of the nation’s divisions, too. And, we will come out of this fiery trial better on the other side. The wait won’t be too much longer.
This Thanksgiving, let’s reach out to each other and encourage one another to stay vigilante as we continue to pray for God’s protection over us. Let’s also continue to invite our family and friends to join us remotely for service by Skype: https://join.skype.com/P8TRBZjej8aU or by conference call: (339) 209-5068.
