The Silent Enemy Is Still Very Much A Serious Threat.
Dear MBC Church Family,
Satan stands before us with wide open arms, reminiscent of the image of Jesus Christ inviting us to enter into His kingdom; but our enemy this time is welcoming all who choose not to follow the truth.
“COVID-19 is simply another disease like the flu or cancer, nothing to really worry about. If I catch it and die, it’s my time to go.”
“The virus is practically over so we can all go back to normal now; not the new normal, but the old normal. This pandemic has been overhyped anyway and is not as bad as the media says.”
“People are padding the number of infections and forcing people to wear masks only to make the President look bad.”
“I have a right to go without a mask. No one can tell me what to do. If other people are afraid of catching the virus, they should stay home.”
Some people say these things as excuses, but some actually believe them. The Apostle Paul writes that people who prefer to reject the truth will eventually fall for a powerful delusion and perish (2 Thessalonians 2:9-11). We saw this happen around Memorial Day when many who had been on lockdown attended overcrowded parties at pools, bars and beaches. But the country is paying the price now with an uptick in cases in once quiet towns that suddenly threw off all restraints. The next powerful delusion will happen this weekend and a few more weekends to follow with campaign rallies and attendees crowded indoors, screaming and not wearing masks. May God have mercy on their souls because the silent enemy is still very much a serious threat.
The ultimate truth we know is in Jesus Christ and we pray that people will not reject His truth and fall prey to a deception that leads them astray. Jesus says, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28 NLT).” He then promises to give us the Spirit of truth who will guide us into all truth (John 16:13). Let Him be the one to guide our paths during this time of misleading voices. And, let’s continue to pray for one another to remain steadfast in following the Lord.
