We Will Reap The Harvest

We Will Reap The Harvest

Dear MBC Church Family,

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).  Yes, the context of this Scripture verse is about being faithful to the Holy Spirit until the end, and about not becoming spiritually fatigued in doing the right thing.  However, we can follow this same principle of doing good as we stare down the most serious global pandemic in generations.

The good news is that the percentage of blacks who have died from COVID-19 has been steadily decreasing although it’s been increasing for other segments of the population.  Unfortunately, with what was once an incomprehensible rise in total fatalities throughout the nation, it’s easy to become numb to the numbers, allowing a coronavirus fatigue to set in and wishing this whole affair would soon be over. But, if we relax now the precautions we’ve been taking against the attacks of the virus, we’ll lose all gains.  So, we need constant encouragement to do the right thing.

Even as various groups are demanding their rights to go maskless regardless of the health risks, let us not think only about our own safety, but let’s do the right thing to keep others safe as well.  Galatians 6:10 follows up and says, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.” Only then can we keep the number of infections and fatalities going in the right direction.  “Let us not become weary in doing good.”

Upcoming: Jazlyn will share with us her testimony about how God miraculously saved her cousin from a harrowing car accident.  We are still organizing a virtual town hall to address the topic of racial injustice and what the Christian response to it should be.
